DIY Ombré Highlights

DIY Ombré

Hey Guys so I know in my last post I was saying that I loved my hair colour and that I didn't see myslef changing it anytime soon...... I was talking to MakeupByMiaEve and decided that I wanted to ombré My hair. I didn't want to do a full ombré as I wasn't too sure if I was going to like it so I thought about doing Ombré Highlights. I used to highlight and change the colour of my hair a lot when I was a teenager. I have always dyed my own hair so I have had both good and bad experiences.

The dye that I decided to go for was the Smart Highlights kit. This is because it has been one of the best that I have tried thought the years. The only thing I was disappointed about was the fact it used to come with a really nice cap and metal hook to pull though the hair. You now have to buy your own cap. It retails for £4.99 so if  you are going to get this one, Buy the platinum blonde mix from them as it is the same price but you get 4x the product. As you still have to buy a cap separately.

The hook I bought was from boots and it was just under £3.

With the kit you get.
  • Lightening powder
  • Developer Cream
  • Blonde Toner
  • Mixing brush with hook
  • gloves.

As I wasn't sure what colour the dye was going to turn my hair I also purchased a purple conditioning colour by super drug. This is to take out any brassy tones. A friend of mine recommended this to me and I found it worked really well. Its also very inexpensive.

To dye my hair I pulled different sized sections though the cap, Tipped my hair upside down and ombréd In 1 1/2 Inch sections at a time. I wrapped it in kitchen foil and waited 20minutes for each section. I did 3 lots of 20 Minutes.

I really loved the way it turned out :D
Let me know if you tried it out and I will see you soon for my new post.

Lots of love
